Bio
Nami Yamamoto graduated with an MFA from the Maryland Institute, College of Art, Baltimore, MD. Her work has been featured in the Fleisher-Ollman Gallery, Philadelphia, PA, Vox Populi Gallery, Philadelphia, PA and the Aichi Art Museum in Nagoya, Japan. She was recently granted the Independence Foundation Fellowship in the Arts, Independence Foundation, Philadelphia, PA and the Individual Creative Artist Fellowship, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Philadelphia, PA, both in 2005. Her work addresses her fascination with the natural world as filtered through a lens of scientific and mechanical objectivity. Carefully constructed and visually arresting, her complex wall and floor pieces explore organic structure and growth with a variety of materials.
