ABOUT: Each year, area artists are invited by Philagrafika to work with master printers at area print shops to produce original, limited edition prints. The emphasis is on the collaboration between the artist and the master printer. Produced annually since 2001, the Portfolio is an ongoing record of Philadelphia’s rich and innovative contemporary art scene. To date, the program has brought substantial exposure to the artists and print shops who have participated. Many of the artists had their first exposure to printmaking through this program, and have gone on to create prints independently. The portfolios and prints are in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Free Library of Philadelphia and the New York Public Library, and numerous private collections.
